IR Energy MW50M20V Video

Description

The Highest-Output mWAVE, Built for Tall Spaces

The IR Energy mWAVE 5000W is the most powerful heater in the series: a two-element electric infrared heater for walls, ceilings or chain mounting, outdoors or in. It is designed for spaces where the heater has to hang high, like tall pergolas, hotel courtyards, golf lounges and vaulted patio covers, and still keep the people below warm. Choose a Smart version run from a phone or remote, or a Pro version that wires to your own controls.

Covers About 530 to 700 Square Feet

IR Energy designs the 5000W for 10 to 14 feet. At 10 feet it covers roughly 24 by 22 feet, and at 14 feet about 27 by 26 feet, warmest directly underneath. Below 10 feet it can feel too strong right under the heater, so the 3600W is the better fit there.

Smart for Phones, Pro for Wall Switches

IR Energy Authorized Dealer

Smart gives you five heat levels from about a third of full power to 100%, a timer of up to nine hours, a remote, app schedules and zones, and Alexa or Google Home. Pro has none of those and is slightly shorter. It wires to a line-voltage thermostat, a timer switch, an occupancy sensor or a building system, the usual setup for commercial patios. A Pro runs at full output unless you add IR Energy's factory control.

Strong Heat Without the Floodlight Effect

Its woven carbon elements glow a warm orange with less glare than short-wave heaters, so an evening courtyard keeps its atmosphere. The housing is IP65 rated against dust and water jets, and IR Energy rates the mWAVE at 90% radiant efficiency under AHRI 1330 testing.

Where the 5000W Belongs

IR Energy points this size at showrooms and salons with 10 to 12 foot ceilings and assembly halls up to 14 feet. At home it belongs under a tall pergola or a high vaulted patio roof, where a smaller heater would not reach the seating.

Plan a 30-Amp Circuit on 240 Volts

Every mWAVE needs its own hardwired circuit sized at 125% of its draw, and on the 240V 5000W that means a 30-amp circuit. On 208 volts, plan a separate dedicated 208V circuit. Mount it at least 8 feet up, follow the manual for clearances, and use chains and anchors rated for its weight if you hang it. The mWAVE is built in North America, and IR Energy warrants its components for 12 months.

Features

  • The highest output in the mWAVE range, from two elements, for heaters that have to mount high
  • Smart: five heat levels from about a third to full power, and a timer that shuts it off after up to 9 hours
  • Smart: remote with about 16 feet of range, Tuya Smart or Smart Life app with schedules and zones, Alexa and Google Home (2.4 GHz Wi-Fi)
  • Pro: no Wi-Fi or remote; runs from a line-voltage thermostat, timer switch, occupancy sensor or building system
  • Pro: running below full output needs IR Energy's factory-supplied control
  • Tilting brackets direct heat down to the seating: up to 67.5° on a wall, 45° on a ceiling, 30° chain-hung
  • Quiet, draft-free warmth felt within seconds

IR Energy mWAVE 5000W Wall/Ceiling Mounted Medium Wave Electric Heater FAQ's

How much area does the mWAVE 5000W cover?

About 530 square feet (24 by 22 feet) mounted at 10 feet, and about 700 square feet (27 by 26 feet) at 14 feet, which is the top of its range.

What breaker size does it need?

A 30-amp dedicated hardwired circuit for the 240V model (125% of its draw), or a separate dedicated 208V circuit for the 208V model.

Smart or Pro for a restaurant patio?

Most commercial patios use Pro, wired to a thermostat, timer or occupancy sensor so staff do not need a remote. Smart suits spaces where people want to adjust the heat themselves.

How much electricity does an infrared patio heater use?

It draws its rated wattage at full output and less at lower settings. Smart models step down to about a third of full power, and since radiant heat is felt in seconds, you can switch it off between uses.

Will it hold up on an open patio?

Yes. It is IP65 rated against dust and water jets and certified for indoor and outdoor use.

When is the 3600W the better choice?

When the ceiling is between 9 and 10 feet, or the area is smaller. The 3600W uses the same housing, is designed for 9 to 13 feet and needs a smaller circuit on 240 volts.
