Description

Birch Logs on Two Raised Rows, for a Brighter Fire

The Majestic 2-Tier Stadium Outdoor Burner with Grand Birch logs is a vented gas log set that turns an outdoor wood-burning fireplace into a gas fire you start at the push of a button. The burner sets the pale birch logs on two raised rows, so flame shows at the back of the stack as well as the front. This version is built for outdoor fireplaces.

Raised Rows Put Flame Behind the Front Logs

Majestic builds the Stadium burner in steps, like stadium seating, so the back logs sit higher than the front ones. You see flame at both levels instead of one flat line along the grate, which is what makes a gas fire read like a stacked wood fire from across the patio.

Battery-Powered Ignition and a Stainless Steel Burner

The outdoor Stadium burner uses Majestic's battery-powered intermittent pilot, so there is no match to strike, no wiring to household power, and no pilot burning between fires. Majestic builds the outdoor burner and grate from stainless steel for rust resistance, and the kit includes lava rock, a flex connector and a damper clamp.

Best for Dark Brick or Stone That Needs Lightening

Birch bark is pale, so Grand Birch stands out against dark masonry where an oak set can disappear. Pick it if you want the fireplace to look bright and clean rather than rustic.

The Grand Birch Log Set Is Sold Separately

This page is for the burner. The matching Grand Birch 2-Tier log set is a separate product in the same three widths, and you need both for a working fire, so choose the same width for each. Majestic makes the logs from cement and hand-paints them.

Measure the Opening Before You Choose a Width

Majestic certifies these burners only for a wood-burning masonry fireplace or a UL127 factory-built wood-burning fireplace, and the damper stays open whenever the fire is on. A damper clamp in the kit keeps it from closing fully. Measure before you order: the 18-, 24- and 30-inch burners need at least 27, 34 and 40 inches across the front of the opening, and every 2-Tier size needs an opening at least 18 inches tall. Back-width and depth minimums are in the installation manual. Keep patio furniture, cushions and anything flammable at least 36 inches from the front, run it with any glass doors fully open, and avoid a windy or drafty spot. Majestic rates it as decorative or supplemental heat, not a primary heat source. Have the chimney professionally cleaned first, and use a licensed gas installer or an NFI-certified technician for the gas line and the first lighting.

Majestic 2-Tier Stadium Outdoor Burner Vented Gas Log – Grand Birch FAQ's

What size gas log set do I need for my fireplace?

Measure the front width, back width, depth and height of the opening and check them against Majestic's minimums for each burner width. For the 2-Tier, the opening needs at least 27 inches across the front, 16 across the back and 19 deep for the 18-inch burner; 34, 20 and 22 for the 24-inch; and 40, 20 and 29 for the 30-inch. Every 2-Tier size needs 18 inches of height. Have your installer confirm the measurements before you order.

Do you leave the damper open with vented gas logs?

Yes. These are vented gas logs, so the damper stays open the whole time the fire burns, and the kit includes a damper clamp that stops it closing fully. The fireplace has to be a working wood-burning masonry or UL127 factory-built fireplace, and Majestic recommends having the chimney professionally cleaned before installation and every year after.

Will these gas logs work without electricity?

Yes. The Stadium burner's intermittent pilot ignition runs on batteries, so it lights and runs without being wired to household power, including during a power outage as long as the batteries are good.

How do you turn on the outdoor Stadium burner?

The outdoor Stadium burner uses Majestic's battery-powered intermittent pilot: the ignition lights the pilot and then the burner, and the pilot goes out again when you turn the fire off. Majestic does not list a remote in the outdoor kit, so plan its on/off control with your installer using the outdoor installation manual.

What is the difference between vented and ventless gas logs?

Vented gas logs like these burn with the chimney damper open, so combustion gases leave through the chimney. Ventless logs are a different appliance built to burn without an open flue. These Majestic sets are vented only and must never run with the damper closed.

Should I choose the 2-Tier or the 3-Tier Stadium burner?

Choose by the height of your fireplace opening. The 3-Tier adds a third raised row of logs, so every 3-Tier size needs an opening at least 22 inches tall, against 18 inches for the 2-Tier. If your opening is under 22 inches tall, the 2-Tier is the one that fits; if it is taller, the 3-Tier fills more of it and sits at a higher price. Both use the same battery-powered ignition and stainless steel outdoor burner.
